Standardized Testing

Time to start thinking about standardized testing. As you know, yearly testing is a state requirement. While we do not teach to any test, our students do remarkably well each year. Consortium will offer to test our students on May 21 and 22. Starting next Tuesday there will be a sign-up sheet at the front desk each Tues. and Thurs. until March 23rd. I need to put in our group order by the end of March to ensure we can get the number of tests we will need during 'peak season'.

Please include a check with your registration made out to HVC.

Along with the sign-up sheet, I will also have a sheet for email addresses.

We are ordering from Family Learning Organization (www.familylearning.org). If you would like to visit their website, you can see the different testing options. My plan is to offer either the CAT Survey ($46) or the Terra Nova 2nd Edition ($48). Prices are based on us ordering for at least 10 students. Prices include pencils and a healthy snack.

Testing will be administered from 8:30-12 noon each day. The tests are divided up into 2 parts, so all students must be present both days. Students should be in their seats and ready to begin testing by 8:30. There will be no food or drink allowed in the testing room. Students may want to bring a drink or snack that can be available in the hallway if they have a break between tests. As usual, we will also provide snacks. Our students always get so hungry!

There will be 2 separate testing rooms, one for the those taking the CAT and one for those taking the TerraNova.
