Interactive Local Field Trip to Ten Broeck Mansion on the Suffragette Movement! From Mrs. Paluch
Mrs Paluch is arranging a NO COST Field trip to Ten Broeck Mansion in Albany on Saturday 3/11 !
I had the privilege of attending this wonderful audience interactive show that brings to life the trials and hardships faced by women and men in order to secure the right for woman to vote in the United States.
We will meet in the Ten Broeck Mansion parking lot by 6:40 pm on Saturday. We will be assigned in groups to guides who will lead us through the manor. The show starts at 7pm and takes 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish. If there is enough attendance, I will make a request of the director and some of the actors to provide a talk-back for our group after the performance!
There will be a sign up sheet on Tuesday at the front table for anyone interested in attending this truly excellent and dynamic performance that puts you literally in the center of the action! What a fascinating way to learn history!
Votes for Women, an immersive, site-specific theatrical experience written and performed by students and faculty of Siena College and directed by Krysta Dennis, will be performed at Ten Broeck Mansion in Albany on March 10 and 11 at 7 PM. The show takes you on a tour of the women's suffrage movement, with scenes located in different rooms of Foy Hall and of Ten Broeck Mansion. Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk around and explore. The production is free of charge thanks to a grant from Humanities NY, It was 100 years ago that women won the right to vote in New York State- come and celebrate the centennary of Votes for Women with this unique and engaging piece of historical theatre!
Recommended for Students Grades 8-12.
(I would rate the show PG as there is one acting scene referencing the force feeding endured in jail by woman suffragettes (you have the option of skipping this one) and one picture of a woman with a protest sign that has profanity on it)
If you cannot make Saturday with our group, you may also make reservations individually for Friday evening 3/10 with Siena by calling 518.783.2527 or Ten Broeck Mansion at 518.436.9826.
